SHE Manager (Safety, Health, Environment Manager)

Main Purpose of the Role

Act as the key leader regarding SHE matters for all levels of the business. Establish, oversee and improve SHE management systems. Working across the business to identify SHE risk and engage appropriate colleagues in mitigation or elimination of risk. The position provides expertise to minimize occupational health problems, accidents, injuries, operational losses, and business risk. The individual will be a strong organiser, influencer and problem solver. This role will be supporting all sites and travel will be required.

 

Role Description

  • Establish and maintain a H&S management system in accordance with legislation & ISO 45001.
  • Establish and maintain an environmental management system in accordance with legislation, ISO 14001 & PEFC/FSC.
  • Collation and submission of business EcoVadis submission.
  • Collation of data required to monitor and analyse management systems.
  • Record accidents, incidents, and near misses. Produce statistics for management team.
  • Record environmental performance (carbon, etc.) and ensure external validation. Produce statistics for management team.
  • Support preparation of monthly board reports.
  • Oversee monthly compliance plans for SHE topics.
  • Organise and coordinate periodic SHE meetings on each site.
  • Coordinate activities of site SHE Representatives from all business functions.
  • Work with business to enable the business to adhere to SHE and other relevant legislation.
  • Work with business to ensure all required risk assessments are undertaken and appropriate remedial actions are agreed an implemented.
  • Support the business in ensuring that appropriate emergency preparedness & response policy, & process are established and effective.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce the company’s environmental impact.
  • Develop/identify & deliver/implement training with managers and employees about SHE topics.
  • Remain up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all SHE legislation and any developments that affect our industry.
  • Provide advice on SHE to the business as required.
  • Vary normal working hours to support the business as required.
  • Any other duties as directed by your line manager.

Required Qualification / Experience / Skills

  • NEEBOSH diploma.
  • Solid knowledge of SHE legislation.
  • Experience of implementing SHE management systems in manufacturing (or similar) environments.
  • Experience of attaining and maintaining ISO certificates (45001, 14001, etc.).
  • Experience of establishing and leading SHE meetings and SHE representatives that deliver business benefits.
  • Proven track record of influencing through all levels of a business hierarchy.
  • A track record of delivering improvements.
