Introduction

Cumberland Building Society provides its customers with mortgages, savings, current accounts and other financial services. A regional building society with branches across Cumbria, South West Scotland, West Northumberland and North Lancashire, it employs 550 people.

The Challenge

The organisation needed an efficient system to help manage the production and mailing of its back-office letters. The Cumberland first identified this requirement during a quarterly review meeting with Adare SEC, at which it was suggested that Adare SEC might be able to offer a suitable solution.

The Cumberland was spending too much time on tasks such as printing and automailing its communications in-house. As well as dealing with automailer issues, and maintenance of office printers, it wanted to utilise this staff time more efficiently on tasks with greater importance.

The Cumberland was seeking a provider in which it could have confidence to handle the printing and despatch of daily mailings securely and efficiently on its behalf.

The Solution

We introduced our hybrid mail solution, PrintMe, to The Cumberland’s operations to help improve the efficiencies of its print output.

PrintMe enabled back office letters and larger mailings which would have previously been printed in-house via office printers, to be sent to us for production and mailing. Our system allowed The Cumberland to make time and resource savings on the production of operational letters, and reallocate it to core business activities.

The Benefits

During the initial roll out of PrintMe, The Cumberland saved 45 minutes per day on staff time, this then further increased to over an hour once fully implemented, thanks to employees no longer having to print, fufil into an envelope and mail communications.

Financial savings have also been made through introducing PrintMe. The maintenance costs on the machinery has been reduced or eliminated, and The Cumberland has made savings on its postal costs too.

Using PrintMe has also improved the overall look and feel of the mail it sends out to its customer base. Around 8,000 letters are now sent out each month by our hybrid mail solution on behalf of The Cumberland.
